I finished my all-animal I Spy quilt today. I've been obsessed with I Spy charms for a little while now. When Munchkin was first born and I spent a ton of time nursing, I tended to dream up various quilt project, especially I Spy projects. This was one of them. Not sure why I wanted to do an all-animal quilt, but I like it.
For the back, I used up some larger scraps I had that were animal themed. Many were left over from all the fabric with monkeys that I bought for A's monkey quilt last Christmas.
I'm into diagonal grids at the moment, so that's how it's quilted. No intended recipient at the moment; I will hang on to it until someone needs a baby/child quilt.

First Finish! Project bags
First finish/completed project of the year! I actually finished these last weekend, but didn't get the chance to post.
For Christmas, my mom gave me a class at my local quilt shop. The class was for these project bags. The pattern is for 4 different sizes, and the supplies make one of each size. (S, M, L, & XL) We did the large one in class, and I left with all but the binding on that one completed. I have now completed one of each size.
The front of the bags:
And the back of the bags:
The bags are quilted. This was my very first time doing a zipper, which was one of the reasons I wanted to do the class. I have now done 5! (Yes, I know, there are 4 bags. I made a mistake at one point and had to get a new zipper.) I had also never sewn with vinyl before. And I kept going back and forth between 3 different feet on my machine, so overall I felt very pleased in how I was adding new skills. I also had a lot of fun choosing fabrics to use up from my stash, though if I could do it over again I would not use that yellow binding on the small bag. I have decided to make more, as I have been doing a huge cleaning out and reorganizing of my craft space and I think it will help keep my half finished projects organized and contained. Three of these now have projects in them! I suspect the small one will be better for storing notions and such than projects, unless I pick up EPP.
