Q2 Goals

I love the motivational link-up party that is the Finish Along. In Q1 this year, I listed 20 projects, knowing I would not finish them all.  And I didn't, but I completed 10 projects!  I don't expect to finish that many this quarter, but that won't stop me from another long list!

I break my goals into 3 categories: general quilts, mini quilts and pillows, and quilts for Project Linus.

General Projects and Gifts
1. Noodle's growth chart
When my brother & his family were visiting in December, I showed them Munchkin's growth chart and asked if they wanted one for my niece, Noodle.  The answer was an enthusiastic yes!  I gave my sister-in-law my stack of I Spy 2 1/2 strips as well as some yardage that I could cut a strip from and let her pick out what she wanted, and she picked out solids from my Kona color card.

2. Doll Quilts
My niece has doll bunk beds that used to be mine.  But they don't have quilts!  So I need to fix that!  I plan to use I Spy scraps to make 2 doll quilts for the bunk beds.
These doll bunk beds were mine when I was young!

3. Scrap Dance Tango
This was a mystery quilt that started in January 2016.  I kept up well with the first half of the mystery but not the second.  I am determined to finish this one.

4. Bookshelf Quilt
I asked for bookshelf blocks from my 2016 Stash Bee Hive last fall and I need assemble them into a finished quilt.

5. Magical Forest
I also need to assemble my blocks from Stash Bee 2017--I'm making a magical forest!

Mini Quilts & Pillows
Pillow Menagerie
I am slowly making us a menagerie of animal throw pillows four our couch, as I got rid of the big cushions that came with the couch because they were so big it was annoying.  The following are pillows I have patterns and fabric for, and I've spent time getting the pattern pieces enlarged and color coded.
6. Koala--pattern is from the zoo animals collection by Kristy @ Quiet Play
7. Giraffe--pattern is from the zoo animals collection by Kristy @ Quiet Play
8. Elephant--pattern from the Elephant Parade by Lorna of Sew Fresh Quilts

9. batik hexies
This might be the project that never ends! My hand sewing batik hexie project is progressing slowly. I'm sort of making up the finishing process as I go along, as I haven't found a tutorial for finishing hexies that completely works for me. I just finished sewing the back to the front. I am now ready to layer and quilt.

10. Blue Butterfly mini
I have one block from the Rainbow Scrap Challenge butterflies that did not make it into a quilt top.  This will become a mini for the wall of minis in my office. It has been quilted and just needs binding.

11. Vintage Holiday
I've had this one on my to-do list for a while and started the sewing on a recent work trip when I wasn't driving.  It is my current hand sewing project.

Project Linus

12. Wizards & Stars
I have been cutting out quilts and making them into kits to take to Project Linus.  I took this one to March's meeting and it is now pieced, just needs to be layered, quilted, & bound.

13. Western/Cowboy Quilt
This one has been cut and put together in a kit for Project Linus sewing.

14. Monopoly
Another one that has been made into a quilt-in-a-kit I have ready to go, this one with some Monopoly fabric my mom gave me a couple years ago.

15. I Spy Jelly Roll Twist
My current Project Linus sewing: Fat Quarter Shop's Jelly Roll Twist pattern with some I Spy strips from a swap, plus Kona Highlight.

16. Sports I Spy with Munchkin
I've been doing some sewing with my son and have a stack of sports-themed I Spy squares set aside for when he wants to sew. This one will depend completely on his pace.

17. Girly I Spy
These are some squares, most from my friend Snow, that are kind of girly.  I have a donated piece of Minky for the back that will dictate final size.

18. 3 1/2" square purple quilt
I Spy scraps with purple as the alternating fabric.

19. 3 1/2" square blue quilt
I Spy scraps with blue as the alternating fabric.

20. Poodles
Someone donated this fabulous pink poodle fabric to my local Project Linus chapter.  I'm going to keep it as a whole cloth quilt and use it as FMQ practice.

Since I had such luck with a list of 20 last quarter, I decided to stick with the magic number!  I doubt I'll finish 10 again this quarter, but I can hope!

  4. I think having a large list is a good thing. It gives you lots of variety to choose from. I have complete faith that you can tackle 10 more times over the next 3 months. Can't wait to see what all you finish.

  5. Hey Emily, I've been checking out your blog during the New Quilters Blog Hop. Your projects are so colorful and fun. I will enjoy watching at they come to completion (yes, you can do it!). That poodle fabric reminded me of a free block tutorial. Here it is: http://theobjectsofdesign.blogspot.com/2016/08/poodle-tutorial-right-facing.html
